2021 Transfer Portal Class Breakdown (Florida State Seminoles)

One of the many offseason projects I will be working on is a breakdown on transfer portal classes two years in the rear.

In 2021 the transfer portal was still a bit of a new thing and coming out of pandemic there were a lot of moving parts in college football, so I don't think student-athletes and coaches realized the true power of the portal.

Two years out allowed the full impact of a transfer class to be felt. More transfers aren't going to be at their new program for more than two years without making some sort of a mark.

Anyway first team up is FSU.

Florida State Seminoles

2021 head coach: Mike Norvell

Cortez Andrews, LB (Maryland
Marcus Cushnie, Edge (Alabama A&M))
Dillan Gibbons, OG (Notre Dame)
Jermaine Johnson, DE/OLB (Georgia)
Joe Lang, S/DB (Holy Cross)
Jarques McClellion, CB (Arkansas)
McKenzie Milton, QB, (UCF)
Brandon Moore, CB (UCF)
Andrew Parchment, WR (Kansas)
Jammie Robinson, S (South Carolina)
Keir Thomas, DT (South Carolina)
D.J. Williams, RB (Auburn)

2021 Record: 5-7

2021 Starts (54): Johnson (12), Thomas (12), Gibbons (11), Robinson (11), Milton (4), Parchment (4),

2022 Starts (26): Gibbons (13), Robinson (13)

Currently on Roster: Zero

2021 All-America (1): Johnson (Walter Camp Football)

2021 ACC Defensive Player of the Year: Johnson

2021 All-ACC (3): Johnson (1st Team), Robinson (1st Team), Thomas (3rd team)

2022 All-ACC (2): Gibbons (1st Team), Robinson (1st Team)

Transferred Out (3): Cushnie (UMass), Moore (Nebraska), Williams (Arizona)

NFL Draft (2): Johnson (2022 Jets, first round), Robinson (2023 Panthers, fifth round).

Recap: There were plenty of positives to this group with Johnson and Robinson being standout performers. Gibbons and Thomas proved to be solid starts as well. Milton had an amazing half of football in the 2021 opener against Notre Dame, but he was never healthy and it can argued that Jordan Travis should have started every game. Parchment had one big bright spot, a first-down catch on 4th and 14 that led to a win over Miami. But he was also very lazy at times and it showed in losses to Louisville and Florida. The others didn't make much of an impression and didn't contribute much at all.
