BIGGEST GAME: Tennessee (September 16)

There's a general belief that the Gators are heading toward a losing season. The schedule is brutally hard and the quarterback situation is questionable. But things can change one the live bullets are flying and if there is a game that can turn the Gators fortunes it might be hosting Tennessee at the Swamp. It's been a long time since Tennessee has won in Gainesville -- 2003 to be exact and the Gators have won 16 of the past 18 games against the Volunteers. Right now Tennessee is the hot team and the program that looks most equipped to challenge Georgia. But the Volunteers lost a lot of talent from last year's team, so we'll see if Joe Milton is up for the challenge of winning in the Swamp. 

TRAP GAME: Arkansas (November 4)

Arkansas has always seemed to play Florida tough, especially in the Swamp. I think it's because they can run the ball so well and control the line of scrimmage in these games. It's also a chance for Razorbacks running back Raheim Sanders to put on a show in his home state (he's from Rockledge). I don't think Florida's offense is going to be explosive enough to keep games from staying close and this is going to be a tricky one. The face that the game is between the Georgia game and a road trip to LSU makes it even more of a trap. 

POTENTIAL UPSET: Florida State (November 25)

It's been a while since FSU has won in Gainesville -- 2017 if you haven't used Google to look it up yet. I think Florida could be in a position where they need to win this game to get to a bowl, but they could easily be in a position to win to improve their bowl standing or possibly knock FSU out of contention for the College Football Playoff. Whatever the scenario is it's like the Seminoles will be favored in this game and the Gators will be excited to ruin their season.

2021 Transfer Portal Class Breakdown (Florida State Seminoles)

One of the many offseason projects I will be working on is a breakdown on transfer portal classes two years in the rear.  In 2021 the transfer portal was still a bit of a new thing and coming out of pandemic there were a lot of moving parts in college football, so I don't think student-athletes and coaches realized the true power of the portal.  Two years out allowed the full impact of a transfer class to be felt. 2021 Transfer Portal Class Breakdown (FIU Golden Panthers)

Butch Davis came out the gate pretty strong at FIU. He was 23-14 with three bowl appearances in his first three seasons. Then the pandemic came and he lost 16 of his final 17 games. FIU was fading a tad before COVID-19, so maybe Davis had already peaked. I am curious how he could have managed the portal if he knew how it was going to work. It's an interesting "what if" to think about.
